Real Valladolid vs Eibar

The weekend action in LaLiga kicks off with a meeting between two sides who have made slow starts to the season. It’s still very early days but after four games each, Real Valladolid and Eibar have a combined total of just three points. Victory for either here would really kick start their season in what is a big game for both coaches.

Real Valladolid have had quite a tricky start to the season. They performed pretty well away to Real Madrid in midweek, and had their moments in the game. However Los Blancos ultimately claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a 2nd Half goal from Vinicius. Sergio’s side have three considerably more winnable games now, starting with this one and it’s imperative that they do pick up at least one victory over this period to start generating a bit of belief as well as putting some all important points on the board.

Overall, Eibar’s situation looks more worrying. They were beaten at home by relegation favourites Elche in midweek with a failed Panenka penalty from Edu Exposito compounding their misery. While José Luis Mendilibar will feel as though his team should have taken something from the game, he’ll be a worried man with issues at both ends of the pitch in need of addressing.

Chiefly, they look to have a problem scoring goals. They’ve only managed 2 in 4 games so far and the player who led their goal scoring and assist charts last season, will be lining up for the opposition here. Fabian Orellana hasn’t made a huge impact yet for Real Valladolid but Sergio will be hoping he shows up against his former club.

Head to Head

  • Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 3 Real Valladolid Wins, 1 Eibar Win, 2 Draws.
  • Both meetings last term produced home wins.
  • Real Valladolid were 2-0 winners in the fixture at the Jose Zorrilla.
  • Eibar haven’t won here since a 2-1 win in the Segunda Division 15 years ago.

Team News

Jordi Masip remains a doubt following his positive coronavirus test. Roberto should continue in goal for the hosts. Right back Luis Perez is expected to be fit following injury.

Eibar have fewer selection problems but they don’t have a clear first XI yet. New signing Damian Kadzior may get another start on the left.

Predicted Real Valladolid Starting Lineup:

Roberto – Nacho, Sanchez, Gonzalez, Perez – Villa, Perez, Emeterio, Orellana – Guardiola, Weissman (4-4-2)

Predicted Eibar Starting Lineup:

Dmitrovic – Soares, Oliveira, Burgos, Rober – Kadzior, Exposito, Diop, Leon – Garcia, Kike (4-4-2)

Real Valladolid vs Eibar Predictions

Score Prediction: Real Valladolid 1-0 Eibar

This will be a tight, competitive game you’d expect between two sides struggling for goals and perhaps a bit low on confidence already. Overall, Real Valladolid look to have a bit more about them though and we may just see Fabian Orellana come to the party here and be the difference maker against his former club.
