Real Betis vs Real Madrid Preview

Real Madrid play their second match of the 2020/21 LaLiga season on Saturday evening and as was the case last weekend, they have a tough fixture. They travel to play a Real Betis side that has made the perfect start to life under Manuel Pellegrini.
It’s two wins from two so far for Betis, a notable feat given only once last season did they manage to put together a sequence of multiple victories in LaLiga. Pellegrini will be especially pleased by his team’s ability to keep two clean sheets although sterner tests will come than Alaves and Real Valladolid – their two opponents so far.
Despite struggling in the past two seasons, Betis have managed to raise their game against Real Madrid and the last league defeat suffered by Zinedine Zidane’s side did come on this ground in March. Madrid bounced back from that defeat, which was in the final round of fixtures before Spain went into lockdown, reeling off 10 straight victories to win the title following the restart.
Los Blancos kicked their new season off in relatively underwhelming fashion with a 0-0 draw at Real Sociedad last weekend. With Martin Odegaard starting in midfield, it wasn’t a terrible display from the champions but once more they did look a bit short in terms of cutting edge in the final third and couldn’t find a breakthrough despite registering 16 shots on goal.

Team News
Nabil Fekir is expected to be fit enough to start for Betis which is a major boost as he does have a habit of turning it on in the big games. Andrés Guardado remains an injury concern though and is unlikely to feature in midfield.
Martin Ødegaard produced what seems to have been a false positive test for coronavirus this week and is available after a second test came back negative. He may still drop out of the midfield though with Casemiro set to start this game having been left on the bench in San Sebastian. Eden Hazard remains an injury doubt so Vinicius and Rodrygo are likely to continue out wide.
Predicted Betis XI:
Bravo – Moreno, Bartra, Mandi, Emerson – Rodriguez, Carvalho – Joaquin, Canales, Fekir – Iglesias (4-2-3-1)
Predicted Real Madrid XI:
Courtois – Mendy, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal – Kroos, Casemiro, Modric – Vinicius, Benzema, Rodrygo (4-3-3)
Real Betis vs Real Madrid Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Real Madrid’s lack of goal threat is still a concern and this looks like it will be a close game with Betis in confident mood having won their opening two fixtures. The Seville club have every reason to believe they can get a result, as they have frequently done against Los Blancos in recent years.
