Real Valladolid vs Real Sociedad Preview

Real Valladolid vs Real Betis Match Preview & Prediction

The new season begins at the Jose Zorrilla on Sunday with Real Sociedad the first visitors. Both sides enjoyed good 2019/20 campaigns and set the bar relatively high for the new season. There’s reason to think both teams are capable of at least matching their final positions from last term, although in the case of Real Sociedad, cup distractions could ultimately damage their league form.

As far as dark-horses go, Real Valladolid are certainly one team to look out for. If they can maintain the solid defensive foundations from previous years, they might just be able to kick on this term with some exciting additions such as Fabian Orellana and Shon Weissman who scored 30 goals last term in Austria. The loss of centre-back Mohammed Salisu is a significant blow though.

As for Real Sociedad, their most significant activity this summer has been signing David Silva to replace Martin Odegaard, who has returned to Real Madrid after an excellent loan season at Anoeta. They may look to bulk up their squad in the coming weeks with a busy campaign ahead as La Real return to the Europa League.

Their squad depth will be tested right from the off. A series of positive coronavirus tests mean the likes of Mikel Oyarzabal, Willian Jose and marquee signing Silva are set to miss this game, meaning Imanol will be some way short of being able to name his strongest eleven.

Real Valladolid ought to be close to full strength with the exception of Kiko Olivas who is out until the new year with a serious injury.

Real Valladolid vs Real Sociedad Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-0 Real Valladolid

Real Sociedad really struggled at the end of last season and their plans for this game really have been thrown into chaos by those positive tests. Real Valladolid are a solid side and the addition of Orellana just gives them a bit more flair and creativity in midfield. If Sergio can find a way to make that work, they could be a much improved outfit and they could just cause a minor surprise on the opening weekend here with La Real missing some key men.
