Levante vs Getafe Preview

Getafe’s bid to qualify for Europe for the second season running goes to the very final matchday. They find themselves in 7th place, the final Europa position heading into their trip to Levante. However only a victory will guarantee Europa League qualification with a point or less opening the door to the likes of Valencia and Granada below them.

Levante meanwhile have absolutely nothing to play for here. They will finish in 12th place regardless of the result so there aren’t even any minor matters such as increased revenues for a better finishing position to fight for. Overall it has been a pretty good season for Paco Lopez and his side although one defined by inconsistency.

The Valencia outfit have beaten both Barcelona and Real Madrid at home but have been defeated on their own ground by the likes of Espanyol and Alaves. They are of course no longer playing at their own stadium and they’ve only managed to win 1 of their 5 matches in La Nucia – 4-2 vs Betis.

Getafe’s European push may be in their own hands but they really don’t convince at the moment. Pepe Bordalas’ side have won just once since the resumption. Their return of just 8 points from 10 games since lockdown is the 4th worst in LaLiga and is the reason why they have quickly fallen out of Champions League contention.

Their end of season form hasn’t been helped by a series of disciplinary issues. They’ve had 4 players sent off in their last 3 games alone and while those reds did come in the closing moments or even after the Final Whistle, they have showcased that cracks are starting to show in this Geta team.

We will have LaLiga predictions and previews for every game on the final matchday plus six LaLiga SmartBank previews for the Monday games which sees the second tier end.

Levante vs Getafe Predictions

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw

On paper, this is the perfect fixture for Getafe with Levante playing their home games on neutral territory and nothing at stake in terms of their final position being already determined. However struggling Celta thought something similar on Thursday night and Levante went to Vigo and won 3-2 to plunge the Galicians into deeper trouble. Getafe don’t look like a team that is going to win many football matches at the moment and they may have to settle for a point here and hope for favours elsewhere.
