Alaves’ fight for survival sees them visit the Benito Villamarin on Thursday night. With a four point advantage on the bottom three, they need just one win to guarantee their survival but with Barcelona to come in their final game, this may be their only real chance to avoid having to rely on other results going in their favour.
Betis don’t really have anything to play for which at least in theory makes Alaves’ task a little simpler. However Betis did put in one of their best showings in a disappointing season in their most recent home outing, beating Osasuna 3-0. With a 50% win ratio at the Benito Villamarin, their home record is actually the joint 6th best in LaLiga with their woeful away record the main reason why they are currently languishing in the bottom half rather than competing for European places.
Only two teams have picked up fewer away points than Betis and Alaves are one of those sides. They average just 0.5 points per game on their travels and they don’t exactly take great form into this match having collected only 1 point from their last 7 games. That did come last time out in the shape of a 0-0 draw against Getafe where the visitors had a goal chalked off by VAR to spare the Basques a 7th straight defeat.
In terms of team news, Andres Guardado is the only real injury doubt for Betis. Alaves meanwhile are missing Martín Aguirregabiria to suspension while first choice keeper Fernando Pacheco is still sidelined.

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Motivation may start to become a problem for a Betis side that has looked ready for this season to end for some time now. Alaves’ need for the points should give them that extra bit of intensity which may be significant but in truth they haven’t really looked any more convincing in their two games under Juan Muñiz so far and the way they are playing a point may be as good as it gets here, which would still leave them relying on other results.
