Cadiz are now on the very brink of securing promotion to LaLiga. Victory over Fuenlabrada will formally end their 14 year absence from the top flight and ensure that the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona will be visiting the Ramón de Carranza next season. It won’t be easy though against a Fuenla side that is pushing hard for a play-off place in what is their first ever season at this level.
The battle for automatic promotion has been a real slog for much of the season. Aside from Cadiz’s brilliant start to the campaign, no side has really taken this league by storm this year and virtually all of the main contenders have been tripping up since the restart.
Cadiz were no different, winning just 1 of their first 6 matches back but they have been the team that has best held their nerve over the past week, picking up priceless wins over Real Oviedo and Extremadura to move 5 points clear at the top and significantly open up a 7 point advantage on Real Zaragoza in 3rd. The way the chasing pack are playing, it’s highly likely that Cadiz will be promoted even if they lose all their remaining fixtures.
Fuenlabrada will be hoping to at least put their promotion party on hold. There were genuine fears that they were slipping down towards a relegation battle but the pause to the season appears to have benefited them more than any other team in this league. They’ve found form under the guidance of new boss José Ramón Sandoval, winning 4 times and losing just once since the resumption to guarantee their survival and leave them within striking distance of the play-off places.

Score Prediction: 1-0 Cadiz
Fuenlabrada will make a game of this but Cadiz really do look to have found a way to free themselves from the stresses and strains of the promotion battle and the way 3rd placed Zaragoza are playing, there isn’t actually that much pressure on them here with the hard work already done. Cadiz should find the win they need to secure promotion to LaLiga.
