Real Betis vs Osasuna Preview
Real Betis still have work to do to mathematically guarantee their survival although in truth there isn’t too much pressure on them heading into this Wednesday’s clash with Osasuna at the Benito Villamarin. The visitors have been in good form and in theory still have an outside shot at Europa League qualification although they may need to win all their remaining games with 6 points separating them from 7th.
The fact that Betis are below newly promoted Osasuna and are yet to even reach the 40 point mark is testament to just how poor a season it has been for the green and white half of Seville. They put in an improved display in their 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo last time out but have only won once since the restart and that was against bottom club Espanyol. They are expected to formally announce former West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini as their new coach this week.
As for Osasuna, they come into this one in terrific form having taken 10 points from their last 4 matches to guarantee their survival. Jagoba Arrasate has done a wonderful job in Pamplona and they’ve been surprisingly good travellers this term, losing just 6 of their 17 road fixtures having come into this league almost exclusively thanks to their excellent home record at El Sadar.
Betis are hampered by the suspension of Sergio Canales here but they should otherwise be at full strength. Enric Gallego is now available again following a ban for Osasuna although the striker is carrying a knock which leaves him doubtful for this match. There may be some rotation in the wide areas with key man Pervis Estupinan potentially getting a rest as his time at the club nears an end.

Score Prediction: 2-1 Betis
Osasuna have done brilliantly over the past couple of weeks but now they’ve achieved their primary goal of survival, there may be a slight tendency to just tail off a bit. Betis were better in Vigo and have enough quality in their ranks to get the better of Osasuna here to ensure they won’t have any late relegation drama to worry about.
