Valencia vs Real Valladolid Preview

Valencia go in search of just their second win since the resumption this Tuesday when they play host to Real Valladolid at Mestalla. The visitors will be mathematically safe if they can win this game but in truth they already look to have more than enough points to ensure they are once again a top flight outfit next season.

The pressure will all be on Valencia though. They’ve taken just one point from their last four games with that draw coming at Granada last time out. You have to sympathise to some extent with caretaker Voro who once again has to pick up the pieces with problems on and off the pitch at Valencia. Los Che are down in 9th place heading into this match and it feels like a ‘must win’ game as far as their European ambitions are concerned.

Real Valladolid are not the sort of team you can just roll over though. They’ve only lost one of their seven games since the resumption and haven’t conceded more than once in any of their fixtures. Only 6 teams have conceded fewer goals than Sergio’s side this season and if they can add a bit more attacking quality this summer, they may just be in a position to kick on and perhaps follow in the footsteps of a side like Getafe, who have established themselves as European contenders playing 4-4-2 with solid defensive foundations their main asset.

Sergi Guardiola and Enes Unal are likely to lead the line again for Real Valladolid and they may just fancy their chances of asking questions of this shaky Valencia defence. Los Che do at least have a few more fit options at the back now with youngster Hugo Guillamon competing with Mouctar Diakhaby and Eliaquim Mangala for a starting place here.

Valencia vs Real Valladolid Predictions

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw

The way they are playing, it’s hard to strongly fancy Valencia to get the win they need here. Real Valladolid are such a difficult side to play against and even if they do make a few changes to freshen things up, they can take confidence from having gone to Sevilla in their last away game with a much changed side and taken a point. They could do the same here.
