Real Valladolid vs Levante Preview
Real Valladolid and Levante meet in a bottom half clash in La Liga this Wednesday. The visitors are 6 points better off and look absolutely safe but Real Valladolid may feel as though they need a few more points to ensure they avoid any final day drama, particularly following Mallorca’s big win on Tuesday.
They have been doing a good job of ensuring their tally keeps ticking over. Sergio made 9 changes at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday night but his team picked up a very impressive point against high-flying Sevilla. Indeed they’ve only lost once since the restart but you do have to go back to their first game following the resumption for their last victory – a 2-1 success against Leganes.
As for Levante, they have been one of the form sides in this final part of the campaign. They’ve taken 8 points from their 5 matches and were very impressive as they raced into a 4-0 lead against Real Betis at the weekend. With 41 points they are one of the few teams with nothing really to play for now as they have certainly got enough to keep them up but they’ve too much to do to seriously challenge the European places.
Paco Lopez will have to find ways to keep his side motivated, which won’t be easy particularly in an environment where they are playing without fans. So far there have been no signs that their players are already thinking about belated summer holidays though.
Both sides should be close to full strength here although we can expect considerable rotation given how many changes the hosts made for their last game.

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
It seems pretty clear that Sergio wanted to keep his players fresh for this game and he’d most likely have been as surprised as anyone when his much-changed side came away from Seville with a point. They should on paper field a stronger and refreshed XI here but with just 3 home wins all season, it’s hard to fancy them to pick up maximum points against a Levante side that is playing well.
