Granada vs Eibar Preview
Eibar travel to Andalusia this Sunday, hoping to take another big step towards safety. They claimed a vital midweek win and the Basque minnows suddenly have a bit of a cushion on the bottom three but will know there is still work to be done if they are to be playing in LaLiga again in 2020/21.
There’s not a huge amount riding on this game for Granada and that’s the result of the fantastic work they have done this season up until this point. Victory would just push them back into the Europa League qualification picture but one look at Espanyol this season, may convince them that they may be better off without the added distraction in what will be only their second season back at this level – one that will already feature a very busy calendar given the start has been pushed back due to the COVID-19 disruption.
It’s hard to understate the importance of Eibar’s win in midweek. With the bottom three all struggling for points, Eibar’s ability to take 5 points from their last 3 games, culminating in that hard fought victory over Valencia will have given José Luis Mendilibar’s men real belief that they can go on and beat the drop.
This will certainly be one of the games that they’ll have targeted to add to their points tally in although they do have a considerably better run-in than some of the teams at the bottom so things are certainly looking up for the Basques and they will take encouragement from what is a pretty long Granada injury list with 5 players injured and a further 3 (Rui Silva, Foulquier & Vadillo) rated doubtful heading into this.

Having taken 5 points from what could have been tough games against Athletic, Getafe and Valencia, Eibar should take real belief into this game and given Granada’s injury woes, the visitors might have the edge against a side they beat 3-0 at Ipurua earlier this term.
