Sevilla vs Real Valladolid Preview
We are back at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this Friday night as Sevilla look to consolidate their top four status by seeing off Real Valladolid. The visitors are on 34 points and perhaps need one more victory to absolutely secure their top flight status for another season.
Sevilla have been one of the most impressive sides since the restart. Julen Lopetegui opted for a surprisingly consistent selection policy for his side’s first three games which yielded five points against Betis, Levante and Barcelona. He then really did shuffle his pack at Villarreal but brought on the likes of Lucas Ocampos, Munir and Luuk de Jong in the 2nd Half to help Sevilla reassert authority on a game they had twice trailed and come away with a 2-2 draw.
Real Valladolid boss Sergio will also be very content with his side’s efforts since the resumption. A return of 5 points from 4 games has pushed them to the brink of survival and they’ve still been doing everything they were doing well before the break. Primarily they’ve been very good defensively with only 3 goals conceded since the resumption and only 1 defeat, a late loss at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Sevilla will know exactly what to expect from this Valladolid side and it could be a frustrating kind of game for them. They should revert to their first-choice front three that Lopetegui had been using since the restart but they may need to be patient to forge openings against this organised Real Valladolid side.

Score Prediction: 1-0 Sevilla
Real Valladolid will most likely utilise a similar approach to what they did against Atleti and they can certainly make this difficult for a Sevilla side which can at times be a bit slow to move the ball forwards. Overall though, you’d fancy the hosts to find a breakthrough at some point across the 90 minutes, although perhaps late on when the visitors start to tire.
