The Segunda Division is inching near its conclusion but mystery still surrounds the destiny of all the major battles. This game will have an impact on both promotion and relegation matters and neither Elche nor Deportivo La Coruna will be struggling for motivation here.
Elche are in 5th and are hoping to consolidate their position in the play-off places. An automatic promotion place now looks just beyond them with only 4 points from their 3 games since the restart. However they do come into this game on the back of a vital 1-0 win over fellow play-off hopefuls Girona, a result which saw them leapfrog the Catalans and claim 5th.
As for Depor, they’ve drawn all their matches since the lockdown and their last two have both been very entertaining affairs. They came from 2-0 down to draw a relegation six-pointer at Real Oviedo before a dramatic 3-3 home draw against Rayo where this time they fought back from two goals down to lead but there would have been mixed feelings for the Galicians who conceded a late penalty which enabled the visitors to leave with a point.
A repeat here would be great for the neutrals but this season is turning into something of an ordeal for Depor fans with their side still involved in the thick of the relegation scrap. They could slip into the bottom four this week if they fail to get the right result here.

Depor look intent on trying to play their way out of trouble but defensively they need to tighten up again as they can’t keep giving teams two goal leads.
