Villarreal vs Sevilla Preview
Two sides who have impressed since the restart to the season clash on Monday night at the Ceramica. Villarreal are suddenly starting to look like possible top four contenders and victory over 4th placed Sevilla here would really propel them into the race for Champions League qualification.
Villarreal actually went into the break on the back of three straight defeats in LaLiga but they’ve managed to regroup, tighten up at the back and reel off three 1-0 victories since the restart. This is their first big test though but they can take confidence from having not lost at home to any side in the top half so far this season.
Sevilla have the second best away record in the Spanish top flight though with a 47% away win ratio on their travels this season. They are unbeaten in seven league games now and gave a strong account of themselves in the goalless draw against Barcelona on Friday night. It’s a quick turnaround for them heading into this game and Julen Lopetegui may consider freshening things up having been fairly consistent with his selections so far.
He does have options with Ever Banega potentially coming into the midfield while Suso could get his first start since the resumption with Munir the man most likely to drop out. Villarreal did rest several key men but still won at Granada on Friday and should recall the likes of Santi Cazorla, Paco Alcacer and Samuel Chukwueze here.

Score Prediction: 1-0 Villarreal
This is the fourth match for both sides since the resumption and it just feels like Villarreal have managed their squad better and the fact they managed to leave a host of key men out and still win at Granada on Friday, bodes well for them here. They should be the fresher of the two sides and that could just give them the edge in what was always most likely going to be a very close game.
