Celta Vigo vs Alaves Preview
The Sunday action in LaLiga starts at Balaidos where Celta Vigo are in desperate need of victory against Alaves. The relegation threatened Galicians haven’t scored in either match since the resumption of the season and Oscar Garcia will be hoping his side can produce a bit more in the final third in this match.
A goalless draw at fellow strugglers Real Valladolid in midweek was at least an improvement on their first match back when they were very poor against Villarreal and could easily have lost by more than the final score of 1-0. They have though this week been given special permission to make an emergency signing with Nolito returning to the club from Celta Vigo. He hasn’t featured much for Sevilla but could be a huge asset to the club where he largely forged his reputation in the mid 2010’s.
As for Alaves, they are 8 points better off than Celta and may feel that one more win would virtually guarantee their top flight status for another year. They were very poor in their first game back at Espanyol but put in a much improved display in midweek to see off Basque rivals Real Sociedad 2-0. The deadlock was broken by 19 year old Borja Sainz who will be hoping to get plenty more minutes over the final few weeks of the campaign.
Fernando Pacheco is available again for Alaves and should return in goal despite his moment of madness resulting in Alaves having to play virtually the entire game with ten men against Espanyol. The visitors though are hampered by the suspensions of Ruben Duarte and Tomas Pina here.
Celta have an injury doubt over Hugo Mallo but aren’t expected to make too many changes to the system or personnel that secured a solid draw in Valladolid.

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Tough one to call this. Celta really need all three points and the signing of Nolito could prove an inspired one but it’s hard to see their attacking play clicking immediately here if their opening two performances are anything to go by. Alaves have enough about them to secure a point.
