Granada vs Villarreal Preview
Matchday 30 in La Liga, the third since the restart kicks off on Friday evening in Andalusia where two sides who have got back up and running in positive fashion meet. Villarreal have a two point advantage on Granada with both sides in contention for Europa League qualification.
Villarreal will really fancy they can kick on and secure European football now with 7th place, the position they currently occupy, good enough for Europa League qualification. They went into the break having lost 3 straight league games but it appears to have come at a good time for the Yellow Submarine who have claimed back-to-back 1-0 wins over struggling sides since the resumption.
Granada have also secured two impressive results. They came from behind to beat Getafe 2-1 in their opening game and then went to Betis and scored late through Roberto Soldado to salvage a 2-2 draw, following two quick-fire goals for the home side. Diego Martinez’s side are now unbeaten in six league games overall and with 42 points on the board, they have already effectively secured their top flight status for another year with 9 games to play including this one.
The hosts will take confidence from their excellent overall home record too. They average 2.07 points per game with home advantage compared to less than 1 away. Villarreal by contrast have lost over half of their away games this season but in fairness they have won 6 times on the road with only one draw.

Granada vs Villarreal Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-1 Villarreal
Granada have been terrific all season and have been playing well since the restart. However we are now getting to the stage where the games may start to catch up on teams and those with the stronger squads should start to enjoy a more significant advantage. Villarreal have much more quality to bring in and freshen things up here with the likes of Gerard Moreno, Moi Gomez and Ruben Pena only on the bench last time out as Javi Calleja shuffled his pack.
