Real Valladolid vs Celta Vigo Preview

There are a host of key relegation six-pointers to be played before the season is over and this is certainly one of them. Real Valladolid defeated a relegation rival at the weekend and they’d be well on the road to securing safety if they can pick up another victory here against a Celta side that really did not impress in their first game back.

Real Valladolid have been tough to beat at the Jose Zorrilla this season. Only 3 visiting teams have won but with 7 home draws, Sergio’s side haven’t been in the habit of winning too many home games either. They will though take real belief into this game having picked up a vital 2-1 win away to Leganes in their first game back with Enes Unal and Ruben Alcaraz scoring the goals.

Celta meanwhile were pretty toothless as they succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat against Villarreal. The Galicians could only muster up 3 attempts in the whole game and none of those hit the target. That has immediately raised questions again about Oscar Garcia who had just started to turn the tide at Balaidos prior to the lockdown with Celta unbeaten in 5 league games heading into the break.

We might see some light rotation from Valladolid but Sergio will be reluctant to rock the boat too much following that strong showing at Leganes. Celta meanwhile may consider a system switch with a 3-5-2 formation one possibility. If that’s the case Fedor Smolov could be drafted in to partner talisman Iago Aspas in attack.

Real Valladolid vs Celta Vigo Predictions

Score Prediction: 1-0 Real Valladolid

Despite plenty of talented players, there is still something highly unconvincing about this Celta side. They may have more quality overall than Real Valladolid but they do not look like a team that is going to relish a relegation battle, an accusation that certainly couldn’t be thrown at Sergio’s men. With Celta having failed to score in 3 league games, Real Valladolid could just nick another priceless win here.
