Rayo Vallecano vs Fuenlabrada Preview
The last game on Wednesday night in the Segunda Division is a Madrid derby as Fuenlabrada make the short trip to Vallecas to take on Rayo. This would have been the game that many Fuenla fans would have been looking forward to, having waited so long to face one of the bigger Madrid clubs in the league, but like all the other games in Spain currently, there will be no fans in attendance.
While two divisions separated these sides last season, there is currently only two points between these clubs with 10 games to play in the 2019/20 Segunda Division campaign. Both sides are on the fringes of the play-off battle with Rayo the higher ranked side and much the more likely to end up challenging for a top six finish. They’ve made a strong start to the resumption of the season, seeing off Albacete 1-0 in that bizarre 45 minute-match at Vallecas last Wednesday before claiming an excellent 2-2 draw away to leaders Cadiz at the weekend.
Fuenlabrada meanwhile also made a winning return to action by beating Tenerife 1-0. That was actually their first victory in 2020 and it came in their first game under the guidance of José Ramón Sandoval who had to wait three months to take charge of his new team having been appointed in the week Spain went into lockdown.
This will be a tougher task for Fuenla but they will be feeling much better about themselves having ended their long wait for a win at last. Rayo have only lost 3 of their 16 home league games this term though so it will certainly be the hosts that start as favourites.

Rayo did some decent business in January and have looked sharp since the resumption of the season. Overall they should have enough quality in their ranks to see off Fuenlabrada and further their rise up the table towards the play-off positions.
