Valencia vs Real Betis Preview
This is one of the standout fixtures of the weekend at least from the perspective of a neutral looking for a bit of goalmouth action. Both Valencia and Real Betis are leaking goals and both coaches are starting to feel the heat with their respective seasons looking like they could be heading towards disappointing endings.
Albert Celades hasn’t been helped by a whole host of injury problems but he hasn’t been able to find any real solutions for the number of goals his side are conceding. Valencia have conceded 14 times in their last 5 games in all competitions having kept 4 straight clean sheets prior to that.
The last of those clean sheets came in their most recent game with Ezequiel Garay available before his season-ending injury. Los Che are still looking into signing an emergency replacement with Betis defender Zouhair Feddal rumoured to be in the frame. That can’t come soon enough for Los Che however to some extent the damage has already been done with this current defence looking very shaky.
As for Real Betis, it’s looking increasingly like Rubi will lose his job at the end of this season with Marcelo Bielsa one man linked with a switch to the Benito Villamarin this week. Betis have won just 1 of their last 9 league games and their season looks to be heading towards another mediocre mid-table finish. Their chances aren’t helped by a suspension to Marc Bartra which should see Sidnei start in the heart of the defence.
Valencia vs Real Betis Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw
Neither of these teams look like they can keep a clean sheet at the moment and this could be an entertaining game between two sides with talented creative players but dodgy defences. A relatively high-scoring draw could be the outcome with Betis, who are playing a bit better than some of their results suggest, capable of adding to the pressure that is building on Celades.
