Sevilla vs Osasuna Preview
Sevilla are back at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan this Sunday, three days on from their latest Europa League outing. They face an Osasuna side that will be hoping to bounce back from one of their worst results of the season last weekend.
It has overall been a good week for Sevilla. They were excellent at Getafe last weekend, winning 3-0 to defeat one of their main rivals for Champions League qualification. The battling qualities they display in one of the toughest fixtures on the calendar would have delighted Julen Lopetegui.
However he would have been much less impressed by their performance in the Europa League on Thursday as they stumbled through against Cluj with a 0-0 draw in the home 2nd Leg. The visitors had a goal ruled out by VAR in the dying moments that would have knocked Sevilla out and there were even some chants for Lopetegui to go from the Sevilla fans at Full-Time after another poor home showing.
It has been a real mixed bag for Osasuna too over the past fortnight. They followed up an impressive 1-0 win in Bilbao with a heavy 3-0 defeat against Granada at El Sadar. That’s the 3rd time in 4 league games that Osasuna have conceded 3 or more and that will concern coach Jagoba Arrasate given they have much less of an obvious goal threat with top scorer Chimy Avila out for the rest of the season.
The hosts are without the suspended Joan Jordan for this game which should see the currently out of favour Ever Banega return to the side. Meanwhile Nacho Vidal is suspended for Osasuna which will force them into a change at right-back with Facundo Roncaglia set to start.
