Mallorca vs Getafe Preview

Getafe return from their Europa League trip to Amsterdam with another flight to the holiday island of Mallorca this weekend in La Liga. They head to Palma strictly on business though with Jose Bordalas keen for his side to get back to winning ways after a setback against Sevilla last weekend.

Mallorca have their own pressing needs for the points. They remain in the bottom three despite an entertaining 3-3 draw at Betis last time out. That was only their second away point of the season though so there is big pressure on them to make these home games count and even though the opposition is tough here, Mallorca will feel as though they need to target a victory.

Geta will start as favourites though. Their incredible rise under Bordalas hit fresh heights this week as they deservedly knocked Ajax out of the Europa League to set up another glamour tie in the last 16 against Inter. In the league they are now a point outside the top four having lost 3-0 to Sevilla last weekend, a rare off-day for the South Madrid outfit this season.

With the games piling up, Getafe may opt to shuffle their pack here and bring in some fresh legs following another big effort in Amsterdam. The likes of Jason, Angel, Kenedy and Jorge Molina may come in and there will be at least two changes given wide-men Marc Cucurella and Allan Nyom are both suspended.

Mallorca meanwhile are expected to give Kubo another start after the Real Madrid loanee starred in the draw with Betis last time out.

Mallorca vs Getafe Predictions

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw

The absences of Cucurella and Nyom are significant for Getafe here as both men have been key to their success in recent weeks. There may also be some fatigue starting to creep in given their European exploits and this is an opportunity for Mallorca to take advantage of that although Geta should still have enough gas in the tank to leave with a point.
