Real Sociedad vs Valencia Preview
Two of Spain’s top four hopefuls clash here in a significant game in the race for Champions League qualification. Neither side is in totally convincing form in La Liga but Real Sociedad will be hoping to make home advantage count here against a Valencia side that comes into this one on the back of a heavy Champions League defeat.
The ease with which Atalanta cut them open on Wednesday night will offer hope to this entertaining Real Sociedad side. It’s one that has gone 9 days without a fixture after their league game last weekend at Eibar was postponed. It was probably a welcome break for Imanol’s young team who have been busy competing in the Copa del Rey during the opening weeks of 2020.
As for Valencia, the pressure is right back on Albert Celades now after his side collapsed to a 4-1 defeat in Italy, leaving their hopes of progress in the Champions League looking very slim. Their chances of playing in the competition next year have also taken a few recent setbacks with just 3 wins in 8 league games heading into this match.
Real Sociedad have an identical record to that but significantly they have won 5 straight home games in all competitions. They are hampered by the suspension of Portu here but in-form Alexander Isak is likely to lead the line ahead of Willian Jose.
As for Valencia, they again have all kinds of defensive problems with Ezequiel Garay and Cristiano Piccini injured while Gabriel Paulista is both banned and injured meaning their back four may be the same one that was dismantled in Milan in the week.
Real Sociedad vs Valencia Predictions
Score Prediction: 3-2 Real Sociedad
Valencia have put in some really poor recent performances and defensively they look a mess right now with some key men out. Real Sociedad have sufficient attacking quality to exploit that but they are vulnerable themselves at the back and this promises to be an open game but it’s one La Real should win.
