The Segunda Division promotion race is bubbling up nicely and it promises to be a really close fight for at least the 2nd automatic promotion position. Both Huesca and Almeria are in the race with just 3 points separating the sides heading into this match. Both lie in the top four but after defeats last time out will be desperate to get back to winning ways here.
Huesca did of course play top flight football for the first time last season and of the three relegated teams, few expected them to be the main challengers for an immediate return. However they currently lie above both Girona and Rayo in the standings and are in with a real chance of getting back into La Liga for next term. They lost to the former last weekend though and they are hoping to avoid a damaging 3rd straight defeat here following a loss at Ponferradina the week before that.
Big spending Almeria have also just hit their first real rough patch under Guti. A return of 1 point from their last 3 games has put their automatic promotion charge on hold although they do remain in 2nd place heading into this. They might settle for a point here given the opposition but there will certainly be a few alarm bells starting to ring if they lose it, particularly after a home defeat to bottom club Racing last weekend.
This game sees the side with the Spanish second tier’s best home record take on the team with the second best away record. Almeria are also the league’s top scorers but they will be up against it here with Huesca having won an impressive 77% of their home league games this term.

Score Prediction: 2-1 Huesca
Almeria are playing some of the most adventurous football in the league and they do have a touch of quality that other teams are lacking so you always fancy they can grab a goal. Huesca are strong at home though having chalked off three straight 2-1 win home wins heading into this. With Almeria just wobbling a touch, they may be able to record another one by the same margin here.
