Levante and Leganes clash this Saturday in what is a really big game at the bottom, particularly for the visitors who have renewed hopes of beating the drop after a key win last weekend. There’s real pressure on Levante too after a four game losing streak in La Liga heading into this match.
No other side has lost all of their last four matches and if that becomes five here then the alarm bells really will start to ring at the Ciutat de Valencia. In fairness to Paco Lopez’s side, 3 of those 4 defeats did come on the road including narrow defeats against Atletico Madrid and last time out against Barcelona where they did create plenty of chances against the defending champions.
This will be a completely different kind of test against a Leganes side that may be in the relegation zone but has only lost once in seven league outings. Their survival hopes received a massive boost last time out as they scored a dramatic late winner at home to Real Sociedad courtesy of another fine free-kick from Óscar Rodríguez. The 21 year old now eclipses even Leo Messi as La Liga’s deadliest free-kick taker this season.
We shouldn’t see anything too radically different from Paco Lopez despite this losing streak that Levante are on. Ruben Rochina and Jose Campana are likely to feature out wide and may provide much of the creative threat for the hosts. Leganes meanwhile are hampered by the suspensions of Chidozie Awaziem and keeper Ivan Cuellar.
