Villarreal are one of the form teams in Spain right now and they’ll be hoping to seal another victory this weekend as Osasuna visit the Ceramica. Just 3 points separate the teams in the table but it still feels like they head into this one with very different ambitions for the rest of the campaign.
European qualification will be a definite target for Villarreal now. They have two potential paths into it too with a favourable Copa del Rey draw giving them an excellent chance of moving into the Semi-Finals when they take on Mirandes this coming week. They’ll also be hoping to get there via the league and their chances have definitely improved courtesy of a run of 4 wins from 5 in La Liga.
Osasuna are out of the Copa del Rey now but they did win their most recent league game, 2-0 against Levante. That match was largely overshadowed by an injury to their top scorer Chimy Avila who is now set to miss the rest of the season. Without Avila, Osasuna carry considerably less of a goal threat but they have been quick to react to that setback with the loan signing of Enric Gallego who shone for Huesca in the second half of last season.
Adrian Lopez may be preferred up top here with Gallego short on match practice. Villarreal meanwhile will rotate some players back in following their cup win at Rayo, including Santi Cazorla who came off the bench to largely alter the destiny of that game. Full-back Xavi Quintilla is suspended.

The loss of Avila is a really damaging blow to Osasuna’s season and it’s hard to fancy them here against in-form opposition. Villarreal have won 8 of their last 9 in all competitions and they have added Paco Alcacer this week to give them a timely boost in attack at this busy stage in the campaign. They ought to be too strong for Osasuna.
