Real Sociedad vs Mallorca Preview

Real Sociedad have been one of the stories of the season in La Liga in the way they’ve attacked sides and played good football with a largely youthful team. However there is now a bit of a danger that they might not live up to their early season promise following a relatively poor sequence of league results. They’ll be hoping to get back on track against struggling Mallorca here.

La Real head into this following back-to-back league defeats and with just 2 wins in their last 8 overall in La Liga. They were as poor as they’ve been all season in a 3-0 defeat at Real Betis last weekend but they did get back to winning ways in the Copa del Rey in midweek as they saw off Espanyol at Anoeta. Imanol named a strong eleven for that game and will fancy they can progress to at least the Quarter-Finals with a home tie against Osasuna in the next round.

Mallorca will be hoping that they are catching Sociedad at a pretty good time and will also take real belief from a terrific 4-1 win over Valencia last time out. The Balearic Islanders had taken just 1 point from 6 games prior to that so it was a much needed victory and one that keeps them hovering outside the relegation for the time being at least.

Followers of Mallorca wouldn’t have lost too much sleep over the Copa del Rey exit in midweek with a weakened eleven at Zaragoza and we will see a return to close to their strongest eleven here. Sociedad meanwhile may go with Alexander Isak up top with Willian Jose being strongly linked with a move to Spurs.

Real Sociedad vs Mallorca Predictions

Score Prediction: 3-1 Sociedad

Mallorca picked up a brilliant win last weekend but it’s still just 1 point all season away from home in La Liga, which unsurprisingly is the worst record in the division. It’s hard to make much of a case for them here as a result against a Sociedad side that boasts La Liga’s 4th best goalscoring record.
