Leganes vs Getafe predictions, H2H and match preview for this Friday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups ahead of this big South Madrid derby.
Leganes vs Getafe Preview
The South Madrid derby is back this Friday night as two of La Liga’s nearest neighbours clash at Butarque. Just five km separate the two clubs and this will be just the sixth meeting between the sides in the top flight. Getafe are having much the better season but Leganes have found some form in recent weeks and if they needed any extra incentive here, they should get it from the knowledge that victory would claw themselves out of the relegation zone.
That looked like a distant prospect only a few weeks back. Leganes have found a new lease of life under Javier Aguirre with the experienced Mexican looking like a better appointment with each passing game. Lega are now unbeaten in six matches in all competitions and have avoided defeat in each of their last four league outings. Crucially they have managed to have the better of their clashes against direct relegation rivals with their three wins this term having come against Espanyol, Celta Vigo and Mallorca.
Getafe meanwhile have just hit a bit of a rocky patch with all of their last three matches ending in defeats to nil. That includes a shock Copa del Rey exit at 3rd tier Badalona last weekend. Geta named a pretty strong eleven in that game too so José Bordalás will no doubt be demanding a response here in the fixture that matters the most to Getafe supporters.
Both sides do have a bit of a reputation for direct and at times aggressive football so this may not be one for the purists but for anyone who enjoys a feisty derby, it may be well worth tuning in for. Angel Rodriguez was the super sub hero the last time the sides met as the forward came of the bench to score both goals in a 2-0 Getafe win. He’s injured this time though so it should be the familiar pairing of Jaime Mata and Jorge Molina up top for the visitors.
Leganes will most likely have to contend without their injured centre-back Dimitris Siovas. The hosts also look set to line up with Guido Carrillo up top after selling key striker Youssef En-Nesyri to Sevilla on Thursday.

Leganes vs Getafe Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
These games are always tight affairs. Getafe have a bit more quality in their ranks but Leganes do look like a resurgent side that is playing with belief again and when it’s like that, they are really tough to beat at Butarque. This one could well end up all square, as has been the case in 3 of the last 6 meetings.
