This is the most eye-catching game this Sunday in La Liga as two teams that are often quite attractive to watch meet in Donostia. Both sides have some really gifted players in their ranks but that hasn’t always amounted to positive results in recent weeks with neither side finding much consistency.

Real Sociedad are riding high in 5th place but they’ve not won back-to-back league games since October. They won a 4-3 thriller at Osasuna last time out so they should take confidence into this despite having let their opponents back into a game which should really have been dead at 3-0. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid have scored more league goals than La Real this season which is certainly testament to the attacking talent they have in their ranks but they are up against La Liga’s 4th highest scorers here so it promises to be a good one.

Villarreal have scored in all of their away games so far this term but despite that they’ve still suffered six road defeats with those defensive problems from last season continuing to hamper them despite plenty of personnel changes. They have looked a bit more solid in recent weeks though with only one goal conceded in their last three matches and the Yellow Submarine do head into 2020 following back-to-back league victories including an impressive win at Sevilla.

That should give them plenty of belief heading into what is on paper an equally challenging away fixture. Both sides should be at or very close to full strength here which could just serve up what might be the most watchable game of the weekend in La Liga.

Real Sociedad look very impressive with Martin Ødegaard continuing to light things up in the middle of the park however they are a young side and at times it shows. Villarreal have the kind of attacking quality that could make them pay and an open game could develop with a reasonably high-scoring draw looking a very plausible outcome, especially given all of the last 6 matches at Anoeta have seen both teams score.
