Two sides that were promoted from the Segunda Division last term clash here as Granada play host to Mallorca. So far it is Granada who have adapted much more quickly to life at this level but it was always likely to be tough for the Balearic Islanders following back-to-back promotions. They’ve really struggled to pick up results on the road but they do still remain just outside the relegation zone heading into the new year.

In terms of the form table though, both sides linger in the bottom three with Granada’s return of 4 points from their last 8 games, one shy of Mallorca’s return. It’s not exactly panic stations for Diego Martinez’s side but a 3-0 defeat at Eibar last time out wasn’t a good way to end the year at all and defeat here would leave them looking over their shoulder just a touch.

Mallorca’s record of just 1 point from 8 away league games so far though suggests Granada still have to be seen as the clear favourites here though. What may be of concern to Mallorca fans is that they have started to losing home games too with Betis and Sevilla both winning at Son Moix in recent weeks making it all the more important that they do get something from this one.

Numerous injuries have played their part in Granada’s downturn in form and they’ll be hoping to have a few players back here although they will be missing the suspended Maxime Gonalons. As for Mallorca, they will have to approach this game without top scorer Ante Budimir who is suspended and the same goes for Iddrisu Baba.

It’s a tough one to call this with neither side looking particularly convincing right now but you just sense Granada will be the more confident side having picked up 5 home wins already this season and they may just be able to eek out a scrappy victory.
