Leganes vs Espanyol betting tips

Leganes vs Espanyol Preview

This is a massive game at the bottom of La Liga as the bottom two sides meet at Butarque. Leganes and Espanyol are locked on 10 points currently with just two matches to go until the midway point in the campaign. Defeat here for either side would be disastrous but regardless of the result, these clubs will be the bottom two heading into 2020.

Leganes have at least shown more signs that they might be about to turn a corner. They’ve collected 4 points from their last 2 league games thanks to victory over Celta Vigo and a draw at Alaves. Another win here would really raise belief that the great escape is on and they’ve no reason not to fancy they can get it.

Espanyol are bottom of La Liga on goal difference and they can have few complaints. They’ve been very poor at times and look short on quality at both ends of the pitch. They did at least put in an improved display last time out but failed to turn a winning position into 3 points as they drew 2-2 at home to Real Betis. One minor positive for them ahead of this game is that 80% of their league points this term have come on their travels but they’ve still lost their last 3 away, conceding 8 and scoring only once.

Both sides were victorious in the Copa del Rey in midweek although Leganes did need penalties to see off third tier Andorra. However both coaches rotated with this game clearly the major priority and it’s likely to be a very tense affair at Butarque and a game that is just as likely to be settled by a mistake as a moment of inspiration.

Leganes vs Espanyol Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-1 Leganes

While the sides are level on points, it’s Leganes who have looked to have more about them with a bit more fight in their side and marginally more cutting edge in attack. They should take more confidence into this game than they have done at any other point this season following two good results and that may just propel them to another victory over a poor Espanyol outfit.
