Getafe vs Real Valladolid Preview

This Sunday’s early game features two sides who exceeded expectations last season and are largely continuing to do that again. Getafe are having another strong campaign and come into this one flying high in 5th place in La Liga and through to the Europa League knockout stages. Real Valladolid meanwhile have a strong base from which to build and secure a third successive season in the top flight.

Getafe have rotated heavily at times this season in the Europa League but they went strong on Thursday night for their make of break home game against Krasnodar. Three late goals secured progress for Pepe Bordalas and his side who are also in good form in La Liga having won 4 of their last 6, drawing the other 2. Despite the quick turnaround, they will still see this as a good chance to put 3 more points on the board.

Real Valladolid meanwhile are struggling for goals right now. Since beating Mallorca 3-0, they’ve gone 4 league games without scoring. However they have managed to scrape goalless draws from their last two games, away to Celta and at home to Real Sociedad. They’d probably settle for a repeat here but Sergio will be hoping to see more quality from his attacking players.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of team Bordalas picks with a bit of rotation possible to freshen things up after their exertions on Thursday. Getafe do have greater strength in depth this season at least which should make life a little easier. Real Valladolid are likely to go with a similar team to last weekend although Joaquin is available following a ban and could start in midfield.

Getafe vs Real Valladolid Predictions

Score Prediction: 1-0 Getafe

Valladolid simply aren’t scoring goals right now so it’s hard to fancy them to offer much in the final third against one of La Liga’s best defences. Geta may have a few tired legs from Thursday night but they should still have enough to nick the win here.
