Alaves vs Leganes predictions, H2H and match preview for this Friday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the struggling visitors aim to build on a vital win last weekend.
Alaves vs Leganes Preview
The Friday night clash may not be the most mouth-watering of games this season in La Liga but it is a big one for the visitors who now have a decent run of fixtures that they need to take advantage of if they are to put themselves in a position to compete for survival in the second half of the season. Leganes were victorious for only the second time this season on matchday 16 but it won’t be easy at Mendizorrotza.
Alaves have again looked pretty solid at home this season with only Sevilla and Real Madrid winning in Vitoria and in both cases only by a single goal. They’ve won 4 of their other 6 at home though but do come into this game after a Second Half collapse at Granada last weekend as they sank to a 3-0 defeat against the new boys. To make matters worse they ended the game with nine men as Mubarak Wakaso and Victor Laguardia saw red which leaves both players suspended for this one.
That should make it a little bit easier for Leganes to have some joy in the final third of this game. They had plenty of that against Celta Vigo last time out although had the long-range abilities of Oscar Rodriguez to thank for two of their goals in a 3-2 victory. That was their first victory since the appointment of Javier Aguirre and the Mexican’s next task will be trying to find a cure for Leganes’ struggles on the road with just 2 points from 7 road games so far this term. The South Madrid minnows would be just 2 points from safety were they to win this game and there’d be a real sense that they are on the right track to turning their season around.
We are unlikely to see many changes for this game from the visitors but Roberto Rosales could come back in on the right flank following suspension. Alaves meanwhile will need to make at least two changes due to Laguardia’s suspension and a broken leg sustained by Tomas Pina at Granada last weekend.
Alaves vs Leganes Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Alaves are strong on their own patch but they are hampered by those two suspensions and the absence of Pina which leaves them a bit lightweight in central midfield. Leganes have a good recent record against this opposition and look capable of taking a point from this game with renewed belief following their vital win last weekend.
