Levante vs Valencia predictions, H2H and match preview for this Saturday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as these city rivals renew their hostilities.
Levante vs Valencia Preview
The Valencia derby is usually good for a bit of drama, particularly when the sides meet at the Estadi Ciutat de València. Los Che have a really poor record away to their city rivals and this time around they make the shortest trip in the Spanish top flight at the start of a vitally important week for the club and particularly coach Albert Celades.
Levante are starting to make a bit of a habit out of turning over the big boys at home. They’ve beaten Barcelona three times in front of their own fans since Ernesto Valverde was appointed at Camp Nou and they’ve won 4 of their last 6 at home to Valencia. It’s also impressively just 1 defeat in 13 home league games for Paco Lopez’s side who are enjoying another decent campaign even if they are plagued by a bit of inconsistency.
The same could be said of Valencia to some extent although they are in reasonably good form with 3 wins from their last 4 league games. They’ll have one eye on a huge game in the Champions League in Amsterdam this coming week with Los Che most likely needing to defeat Ajax in their own backyard to progress. That won’t be easy at all and Celades’ future at the club may depend heavily on what happens over the next ten days with Real Madrid also visiting the Mestalla next weekend.
His chances of establishing himself in this job would be aided if he can end what has become something of a curse for Valencia on this ground. They’ve only taken 2 points from their last 6 trips across town to play their smaller neighbours. They do at least take confidence from victory in another local derby against Villarreal last weekend.
Levante vs Valencia Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw
Valencia matches under Albert Celades have tended to be quite open with plenty of chances at both ends of the pitch. They’ve not been clinical enough though with Rodrigo Moreno and Maxi Gomez guilty of some poor misses. Unquestionably they have more quality than their local rivals but Levante should not be underestimated and their strong home record both this season and in this fixture, suggests they will at least get a point.
