Leganes were shock 3-0 winners at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last season, one of their best performances in a campaign which ended with their best ever finishing position in La Liga. They could desperately do with a repeat here but this current Sevilla side looks a far more accomplished all round unit following a summer makeover and they will be expected to chalk up another win.

Sevilla take excellent form into this one. Since losing heavily at Camp Nou, they are unbeaten in 6 league games, winning 4 of them. Encouragingly they’ve been getting the job done away from home with wins at Betis and Valladolid proceeding this game. The fact they are riding high in 3rd place is all the more impressive when you consider only 6 of their opening 14 matches have been at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan where they are normally so strong.

Leganes have a new boss in the form of Javier Aguirre but the Mexican’s baptism of fire continues here having faced Real Sociedad and Barcelona in his two games to date. Lega nearly managed to grind out a point against the Catalans last time out but a decent performance would have done little to lift their spirits given they are already 8 points shy of safety and in danger of being completely cut adrift at the foot of the table.

All is not completely lost for Leganes who have rarely been outclassed this season and do have a lively frontline with Martin Braithwaite and Youssef En-Nesyri potentially serving up a real threat on the counter in this game. Sevilla though are looking strong in just about every section of the pitch and crucially Julen Lopetegui has quickly been able to figure out what his strongest eleven looks like which could have been a real challenge given the huge squad overhaul that took place.
