Real Madrid vs Real Betis Preview

Real Betis were victorious at the Santiago Bernabeu on the final day of last season in what was Quique Setien’s final game in charge. His replacement Rubi will be hoping to repeat the trick but it won’t be easy against a Real Madrid side that put in a five star showing in midweek and will be hoping to find that kind of level on a much more consistent basis.

Their 5-0 win was admittedly only against bottom of the table Leganes but the result would have done a few players the world of good with young forwards Rodrygo and Luka Jovic both getting their names on the scoresheet. The former is likely to continue here along with fellow summer arrival Eden Hazard but the Belgian is still some way off his top form after what has been a difficult start to life with Los Blancos.

Betis head into this match after a vital Wednesday night win. There was some talk that Rubi’s job may have been on the line had they failed to defeat fellow slow starters Celta Vigo and Nabil Fekir’s 90th minute winner looks to have at least bought the Betis boss some time. They head to the Bernabeu with La Liga’s second worst away record though having taken just one point from their five away games so far this season.

Betis also have the worst defensive record in the Spanish top flight so their chances of recording a third win at the Bernabeu in as many visits look slim. Part of the problem seems to be a lightweight central midfield and it’s hard to see a potential pairing of Sergio Canales and Andres Guardado not being overrun here by the quality Los Blancos have in the middle of the park.

Real Madrid vs Real Betis Predictions

Score Prediction: 4-1 Real Madrid

It’s hard to see anything but a comfortable Real Madrid win here. Betis have been far too easy to open up this season and the manner in which they folded in away games at Barcelona and Villarreal suggests something similar could happen in this game.
