Mallorca vs Osasuna Preview
The newly promoted teams have been a real breath of fresh air in La Liga this season and all three have reason to be content with their respective starts. Two of them meet here with Mallorca playing host to Osasuna and it’ll be interesting to see how they shape up against one another.
The visitors have been much more the consistent team so far but Mallorca have impressed at Son Moix. All of their ten points have come in front of their own fans with Eibar, Espanyol and most recently Real Madrid all falling to defeat in Palma. The weekend loss in what felt like a relegation six-pointer at Leganes was a reality check though and Vicente Moreno will know that the hard work done against Los Blancos will be largely undone were they to succumb to defeat here.
Muchlike Mallorca, Osasuna are also a side that really relied on their home form to get them out of the Segunda Division and they remain unbeaten at El Sadar this term after Sunday’s impressive 3-1 win over Valencia. They’ve been competitive on the road too and only the Madrid giants can better their record of just two league defeats so far this term.
We aren’t likely to see any major surprises in terms of selection here. Mallorca will stick with the formula that has delivered some good performances at home so far but they have been a bit wasteful in front of goal with only Ante Budimir having netted more than once this term. Osasuna may consider a bit more rotation having played late on Sunday with Marc Cardona potentially coming in to give them more of a presence in attack.
Mallorca vs Osasuna Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
This is a tricky one to call. The recent history of this fixture suggests the home team are the more likely victors. Mallorca certainly don’t look like being defeated on their own patch right now but Osasuna are playing well and overall perhaps have a bit more quality than their opponents. A draw looks the most likely outcome and 50% of Osasuna’s games so far this term have finished level.
