This is another game that feels as though it could be make or break for Celta Vigo boss Fran Escriba. He bought himself some time with a 1-0 win over Athletic before the international break but defeat at Alaves piled the pressure back on. Real Sociedad are playing arguably the best football in La Liga right now so this certainly won’t be an easy task for the Galicians.

Optimism was high heading into this season in Vigo with the likes of Denis Suarez and Rafinha returning to the club to seriously bolster their midfield options. Joseph Aidoo has also proved a smart addition in defence yet Celta still find themselves near the bottom of La Liga again with results deserting them. Not one of their players has netted more than once so far this term and defeat here may well prompt a change in coach that some sections of the Celta fanbase are already calling for.

By contrast, Real Sociedad look in much better shape. The likes of Mikel Merino, Martin Ødegaard and Mikel Oyarzabal have been outstanding so far this term and they would move level on points with leaders Barcelona were they to win this. That will certainly be the objective with Imanol using positive, high tempo tactics which several teams have already found tough to live with.

La Real have gelled into an effective unit much more quickly with but there is quality in this Celta side and it promises to be a really good contest.

Real Sociedad are playing with real confidence and self-belief and will commit bodies forward whenever the opportunity presents itself. Iago Aspas is normally the instigator of that and the hosts should asks questions of what is still something of a makeshift Sociedad defence with midfielder Igor Zubeldia playing at centre-back.
