This is a huge game at the bottom end of La Liga, particularly for the hosts. Leganes boss Mauricio Pellegrino left by ‘mutual consent’ on Monday after a woeful start to the season that has seen the South Madrid club collect just two points from their opening nine games. They desperately need to get their season going here against pre-season relegation favourites Mallorca.

At the time of writing (Thursday 23rd October), Leganes remain managerless with talks continuing with Gus Poyet. It seems doubtful that he or anyone else will be appointed in time to take charge of this game which may leave Lega in caretaker charge. The stats suggest they haven’t been quite as bad as the league table suggests but a return of just 1 point from 5 home games so far is most unlike Leganes who since reaching the top flight have always been heavily dependent on their impressive home form.

Mallorca’s survival hopes may also largely rest on their ability to pick up results at home if the start of the season is anything to go by.
