Granada and Osasuna are two clubs who have been on similar paths in recent years. They were both relegated from La Liga in 2017, only to both bounce back after two seasons in the Segunda earlier this year. They’ve also both made bright starts to their respective top flight returns with Granada riding high in 4th place while Osasuna have only suffered one defeat in their opening eight matches and lie comfortably in mid-table.

The hosts will leapfrog Barcelona and Atletico Madrid to reclaim 2nd place if they win this match. They were defeated at the Bernabeu in their final game before the international break but they should still be able to carry plenty of momentum into this one having already chalked up four victories. Survival will still be the principal aim but the early signs are that they will at the very least be able to achieve that.

You could probably say the same for Osasuna. They’ve not always been pretty to watch but they look a very solid defensive outfit with a sprinkling of quality at the other end of the pitch which should keep them in the division. They have been La Liga’s draw specialists so far this term with five of their eight fixtures ending up all square however they did manage to put three important points on the board last time out, impressively beating Villarreal 2-1.

Granada have a couple of problems to contend with heading into this game. They’ve lost midfielder Angel Montoro to an injury and the 31 year old has been very influential so far with three assists, more than any other Granada player. Centre-back German Sanchez is also absent due to suspension having already picked up five bookings. Osasuna will be hoping to take advantage with no changes likely for the visitors.

With a couple of key men absent, Granada may not be quite the same force in this game as they have been so far this season. That may make it tough for them to truly make home advantage count here and Osasuna look capable of coming away with yet another draw.
