Valencia vs Mallorca Preview
Mallorca’s first away game back in the top flight sees them head to the Mestalla. They will do so more in hope than expectation you sense with Los Che strongly expected to challenge for the top four again. However it is Mallorca who are currently above Valencia in the standings with Marcelino’s men having made a slow start to the campaign.
Following on from their 1-0 defeat in Vigo last weekend, Valencia also have some injury problems to contend with which may really hamper them over the next few months. The right flank is looking particularly vulnerable after both Cristiano Piccini and Carlos Soler picked up relatively serious injuries meaning Daniel Wass and Ferran Torres are likely to see extended runs in the side unless Los Che can bring in a right-back at the last minute in the transfer window.
Kevin Gameiro is also a doubt for Valencia here but even if the Frenchman is fit, Marcelino may opt to put his faith in new signing Maxi Gomez for this game alongside Rodrigo Moreno in attack. That should give the Mallorca defence plenty to keep them busy with the new boys having won one and lost one so far this term.
Even in the Segunda Division last season, Mallorca didn’t exactly set the world on fire away from home. They won just 4 times away from Son Moix and lost 4 of their final 5 away fixtures in 2018/19. They will be keen to at least show they aren’t going to be easy pickings for top flight teams on their travels this time around but it will be tough.

Valencia vs Mallorca Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-0 Valencia
It’s hard to look past Valencia here despite a relatively sluggish start to the season from them. Maxi Gomez has been brought in for exactly this kind of game where the opposition is likely to sit deep forcing Los Che to veer away from their effective counter-attacking style. Despite the injury problems, Los Che should have more than enough quality to get the better of Mallorca and record their first win of the campaign.
