Espanyol vs Granada predictions, H2H and match preview for this Sunday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the new boys travel to Barcelona.
Espanyol vs Granada Preview
It has been a busy old month for Espanyol with lots of transfer activity going on behind the scenes not to mention lots of football. They’ve been in Ukraine this week and a 2-2 draw against Zorya was enough to steer them through to the group stages of the Europa League. They’ll have had less than 72 hours to prepare for this game with newly promoted Granada travelling to the RCDE Stadium this weekend.
Espanyol still face a bit of an anxious wait with regards to the future of Marc Roca. Having already lost the likes of Borja Iglesias and Mario Hermoso, they’ll be desperate to hold onto another of their key men with the transfer window set to shut on Monday and interest in the player high. Roca should start in midfield here but David Gallego may opt to rotate his team in some areas with new signing Jonathan Calleri pushing for a start in attack while forward Facundo Ferreyra could potentially be in line for a rest.
As for Granada, they travel here with a point on the board from their opening two games. That came at Villarreal on the opening weekend but they were beaten by Sevilla at home last time out. They are unlikely to make any radical changes ahead of this game although Darwin Machis is pushing for a place in the team. The Venezuelan is one of the players they’ve brought in who should in theory at least add some more firepower to a team that wasn’t always prolific in the Segunda Division last term.
Granada will be hoping there is a bit of fatigue in the Espanyol camp following their midweek exploits but David Gallego will be eager to record his first league win in charge of the club with all his victories so far having come in Europe.

Espanyol vs Granada Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Granada have certainly held their own in their matches so far and there’s reason for boss Diego Martinez to be relatively content with what he has seen. Despite their good results in Europe and some encouraging signs from a few of the new arrivals, you have to worry a bit for Espanyol this season with Borja Iglesias an almost impossible player to replace. With fatigue a possibility given their long trip in Europe, they may have to settle for a point here.
