Two sides fresh from encouraging 1-0 wins last weekend meet this Friday at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Sevilla are aiming to make it three wins from three which would leave them in with a good chance of topping the table heading into the international break. Celta meanwhile will be hoping they can spring a surprise in their first road game of the new campaign.
It has been so far so good for Julen Lopetegui in Seville. The assumption that it would take time for a radically transformed squad to gel together has so far proved false. Despite naming seven debutants in their opening XI, Sevilla brushed aside Espanyol and then won again on the road at Granada last Friday. Having only won 5 times away in La Liga last season, that’s certainly an encouraging start. Their priority will now turn to starting on the right note at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, which has been such a fortress for them over the years.
Celta know that as well as anyone. They’ve lost on their last four visits here. The fixture list didn’t exactly provide them with the best chance to get off to a bright start this term with their opening three games against members of last season’s top six but victory over Valencia last time out has given their campaign lift-off. Fran Escriba is likely to be reluctant to tinker with that side here even though summer signing Santi Mina is now back in contention.
Gabriel Fernandez is likely to lead the line again for the visitors after his fine strike last weekend. Sevilla will also look for continuity with Julen Lopetegui having quickly stumbled on a winning formula and there will be home debuts for a host of his players here while the former Spain and Real Madrid boss will also be taking charge of his first game as Sevilla boss on home soil.

Sevilla are yet to concede a goal this season and that really is an encouraging sign given defensive flaws were a bit of a weakness last term. With Joan Jordan and Ever Banega pulling the strings in midfield they have enough quality to dominate possession in this game and they look like they will be too strong for Celta on the night.
