Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid Preview

This Saturday’s game features two sides who were both winners on the road on the opening weekend. Valladolid benefited from Betis being reduced to ten men early on at the Benito Villamarin and they made them pay with a 2-1 victory which sets them up nicely for this game. Real Madrid meanwhile were reduced to ten as Luka Modric saw red in Vigo but it didn’t stop Los Blancos getting the job done in a potentially tricky opening fixture.

Zinedine Zidane would have been delighted with the result, particularly in the midst of a worsening injury crisis that means Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz and Marco Asensio are all sidelined here limiting his attacking options significantly. The main beneficiary has been Gareth Bale who started and played well at Balaidos just weeks after his coach went very public with his desire for the Welshman to leave the club.

Bale should start again here against a Real Valladolid side that signed two players on loan from Real Madrid over the summer. Despite strong speculation, they won’t be adding Takefusa Kubo to their midfield options though with the Japanese youngster instead moving to Real Mallorca on loan this week.

Valladolid played well at the Bernabeu last season and were unfortunate to leave without a result but they haven’t enjoyed their trips to this part of the Spanish capital over the past decade or so. The club are of course owned by Real Madrid legend Ronaldo which has served to strengthen the already cosy ties between the two clubs but Sergio’s men will be in no mood to dish out any favours when this one kicks off on Saturday.

Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-0 Real Madrid

After a very poor pre-season, Real Madrid delivered the goods when it mattered last weekend and that will settle a lot of nerves heading into the new season. They are likely to field an eleven without any new signings which will frustrate some at the Bernabeu but the likes of Bale, Isco and Vinicius will all be hungry to make the most of chances to start with Modric and Hazard among those absent here. They should have enough quality to break down a stubborn Valladolid side and win the game but a big win seems unlikely against a well-organised visiting defence.
