Granada vs Sevilla predictions, H2H and match preview for this Friday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups ahead of this all Andalusian affair.
Granada vs Sevilla Preview
The winners of this Friday’s game will (briefly at least) go top of the table so there’s plenty of incentive here for both Granada and Sevilla with Andalusian pride also at stake. The visitors will be the favourites but they will know they will be in for a game against a Granada side who caught the eye on the opening weekend.
Diego Martinez’s side came up with a reputation for being a solid and at times pretty defensive side. They claimed nine 1-0 victories on their way to automatic promotion from the Segunda with just 28 goals conceded across the season. Therefore it was a huge shock to see them involved in a dramatic 4-4 draw at Villarreal on the opening weekend with the new boys netting two late goals from set-pieces to salvage an excellent point.
Sevilla meanwhile also made a good start on the opening weekend. They named seven debutants in their starting eleven for the trip to Espanyol but came away with an impressive 2-0 victory in a game they were the dominant force in. There was a debut goal for Sergio Reguilón who shone at left-back and it was the Real Madrid loanee who turned provider to set up forgotten man Nolito for a fine second.
Therefore this new-look Sevilla certainly passed their first test with flying colours and they will take confidence into this Friday night clash. However the Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes ought to be rocking as Granada play their first home game since promotion and this could be a lively affair.
Granada vs Sevilla Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw
Sevilla are the favourites but Granada will be full of belief following an excellent pre-season and that fine comeback at Villarreal. They will fancy they can be a threat from set-pieces again here against a team that will take time to gel and could just be caught off guard at the back given there are clearly players still getting used to playing with one another. Julen Lopetegui’s team have plenty of quality out wide and in midfield though and will certainly ask plenty of questions of their newly promoted opponents and this has the potential to be a good game with goals at both ends.
