Real Valladolid vs Valencia Predictions

Real Valladolid vs Valencia Match Preview

This is one of those regular situations where a team with nothing to play for meets one with everything on the line on the final day. History dictates that the latter normally wins these kind of showdowns in La Liga but there will be a full house at the Jose Zorrilla and Valladolid’s fans will be hoping for a committed performance from their side after they secured survival last time out with victory at Rayo. Valencia meanwhile simply know they need to win the game to secure Champions League football.

Anything less will see them needing a favour from neighbours Villarreal who travel to Getafe. Los Che will be delighted to have matters in their owns hands though. They’ve timed their charge well and this is actually the first time all season that they head into a match-day in the top four. They do have a Copa del Rey Final to come next weekend but we should finally get a better indicator of what Marcelino judges to be his strongest team following a lot of rotation over the past few months due to Valencia’s many cup commitments.

Valladolid are La Liga’s lowest scorers and they are quite a limited side in many respects. However they’ve been more solid at the back than some of the team’s below them and there is clearly a spirit in their camp that has helped steered them to safety. They took several days off following that win at Rayo so Valencia will certainly feel they are catching them at a pretty good time and the visitors are the strong favourites to get the win they need.

The hosts are likely to field an unchanged eleven from the win last time out. Enes Unal and Sergi Guardiola should lead the line in a 4-4-2 which will mirror Valencia’s system. Valencia have a concern over Ezequiel Garay and there’s the usual dilemma for Marcelino up top with Santi Mina, Rodrigo and Kevin Gameiro battling for two places.

Real Valladolid vs Valencia Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-0 Valencia

Valencia hit six in their most recent away game at Huesca and in an attacking sense they are looking as impressive as they have done all season. They have leaked a few goals against stronger opponents of late but Valladolid don’t possess the creativity or firepower to cause big problems for them. Valencia should get the win they need.

Valladolid vs Valencia H2H

  • Last 6 meetings: 2 Valencia Wins, 4 Draws.
  • Valladolid have gone 7 without a win against Los Che.
  • Valencia are unbeaten on their last 6 trips to the Jose Zorrilla.
  • However they haven’t won on this ground since a 4-2 victory in 2009.

One to Watch – Santi Mina

Santi Mina has hit a bit of form which should see him get the nod here. He scored two and created two in a wonderful performance in Valencia’s last away game at Huesca and added to his goals tally with another strike at home to Alaves last time out.
