Celta Vigo vs Girona predictions, H2H and match preview for this Saturday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis, betting tips and predicted line-ups ahead of this vital game at the bottom.
Celta Vigo vs Girona Match Preview
This is perhaps the biggest game at the bottom end of La Liga this weekend. Celta Vigo in 17th are now just 2 points behind 14th place Girona. A victory for the Galicians here would really spell trouble for Girona. The Catalans do tend to be better away from home though so Celta won’t have this all their own way despite a significant upturn in form.
That change has been inspired by Iago Aspas. He has only started 3 games in 2019 due to injury problems and a suspension last weekend at Atletico Madrid. However those 3 matches yielded 7 points with Aspas scoring 5. Celta have only taken 4 points from 12 games without him this season and he is surely the most important player in La Liga to his team. Aspas will take his place here alongside Maxi Gomez up top with Celta likely to go 4-4-2. The injured Brais Mendez is a significant absence on the right flank though for the Galicians.
Girona meanwhile head here on the back of a worrying four game losing streak. They should though be able to field a stronger eleven this weekend than the one that lost at home to Villarreal in another six-pointer last weekend. Alex Granell and Douglas Luiz are back from bans in midfield and that will make them much stronger in the middle of the park this time out.
There are still a few injury problems in other areas for Girona but they do have their strongest front three available with Portu and Borja Garcia operating either side of Cristhian Stuani. That should be enough to ask serious questions of a shaky Celta defence.
Celta Vigo vs Girona Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-1 Celta Vigo
Betting Tip: Aspas to score Anytime (18+)
This one ought to see there being chances at both ends but with Celta believing again and having won their last two at Balaidos, they will seriously fancy this the way Girona are playing. Aspas would have benefited from a fortnight off to prepare for this one and he’s certain to be the main danger man from a Celta perspective. Don’t be surprised if he produces another Galician superhero act!
