This game simply always seems to deliver. Wednesday’s Copa del Rey Clasico was no different and although the scoreline was ultimately one-sided in Barcelona’s favour, the match certainly wasn’t. Real were much the better team in the 1st Half and created a host of chances to break the deadlock. The Catalans only had 4 shots in the entire game but still managed to score 3 goals to seal a record 6th straight cup final appearance.
It was a cruel blow for Santi Solari, whose chances of extending his stay in the Real Madrid hotseat may now rest solely in the Champions League. Real Madrid have shown they are capable of winning that competition even in seasons when their domestic record has been poor but they simply have to be more clinical. Vinicius is incredibly exciting and created a host of chances for both himself and his teammates on Wednesday. However it’s hard to remember a time when Real fielded a less clinical front three than the one they have right now.
Barcelona by comparison are perhaps the best side in Europe when it comes to converting chances. Leo Messi and Luis Suarez remain the most potent strike pairing in world football but on Wednesday it was Ousmane Dembele who was their main attacking weapon. He created two of the goals and it’s striking just how quickly the two young wingers on each side have grown to be key figures for their respective sides.
It’ll be fascinating to see if either coach makes any tweaks to try and thwart those dangermen here. However most of the noises coming out of both camps suggest it will largely be the same again and another fascinating Clasico tussle is likely.

Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score @ 1.68 with Spin Palace Sports (18+)
This should be a more even scoreline than we saw on Wednesday. It’s hard to see Real Madrid being quite so wasteful again but you can never fully rely on them to keep it tight for 90 minutes and you just can’t give players of the quality of Messi and Suarez clear chances as you will be punished. Overall another reasonably high-scoring game looks likely but Real Madrid could at least restore an element of pride and get something from this one.

Vinicius was on fire in midweek and did everything but put the ball in the net. Barcelona had no answer to him at times and he is sure to have a big role to play again.
