Huesca vs Real Valladolid predictions, H2H and match preview for this Friday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis, betting tips and predicted line-ups as two sides that were promoted last year meet.
DATE/TIME – Friday 1st February, 21:00 (Spanish Time)
STADIUM – Alcoraz
COMPETITION – La Liga
This is a significant game at the bottom end of La Liga, certainly for the hosts who are running out of time as they look to launch what would be perhaps the greatest escape in Primera Division history. In a season when it may take more than 40 points to beat the drop, it’s hard to see them getting close though whatever the result this Friday against Real Valladolid.
The visitors come as the slight underdogs despite a decent away record. They would move into the top half with a win here and while that would by no means guarantee them a safe trip towards survival, they’d have a really strong platform again to beat the drop. They have lost their way slightly over the past few months but we shouldn’t forget this is still a team in its first season back at this level and what they’ve managed so far has been very impressive.
Huesca finished above Valladolid last term in the Segunda Division but they’ve never really recovered from losing coach Rubi to Espanyol in the summer. Their appointments have been questionable at best and their failure to sign a reliable striker has also cost them big time as they have been creating chances. They are currently 11 points from safety so this game is quite simply a ‘must win’ from their point of view and they may need to throw some caution to the wind to try and get it.
Neither side has been involved in the Copa del Rey this week so preparation should have been fine. It’ll be interesting to see Sergi Guardiola in action again for Valladolid. He signed last week following an impressive stint with Cordoba in the Segunda Division and impressed on debut as his new team beat Celta Vigo.
Huesca vs Real Valladolid Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-0 Valladolid
In terms of betting, all the value here looks to lie with Valladolid. They’ve been strong on the road this term and up against a Huesca side that has only won once since the opening day of the season, the visitors look more than capable of at least getting a draw from this one. With Huesca needing to really target all the points, the visitors could even nick this on the break late on, in what is likely to be a pretty tight game between two sides who struggle for goals.
Huesca vs Valladolid H2H
- Last 6 meetings: 3 Valladolid Wins, 3 Huesca Wins
- Valladolid won the reverse fixture 1-0, the first ever top flight meeting.
- They’ve not won on any of their last 5 league visits to Huesca, all in the Segunda Division.
- 4 of the last 6 meetings have produced red cards.
One to Watch – Ruben Alcaraz
El Real Valladolid necesita a Sergi Guardiola y Sergi Guardiola necesita al Real Valladolid. Como pasó con Rubén Alcaraz, a veces un solo partido es suficiente para saber de qué pasta está hecho un jugador. Midfielder Ruben Alcaraz has perhaps been the most impressive player on either side this term. It has been a real breakthrough campaign for the 27 year old and he could have a big role to play here.
