DATE/TIME – Saturday 26th January, 13:00 (Spanish Time)
STADIUM – Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
COMPETITION – La Liga
#SevillaFCLevante
This is a fixture that has posed Sevilla some problems in recent years. They’ve made a habit of putting away teams at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in general but Levante have gained results on 5 of their last 6 visits and will be hopeful of a repeat here. Certainly a different kind of game is likely to the 6-2 thrashing Sevilla inflicted on Levante earlier in the season.
Sevilla’s season is shaping up to be a ridiculously long one with Copa del Rey progress adding to the build-up of games. Having beaten Barcelona 2-0 in the Quarter-Final 1st Leg in midweek, they will have one eye on the return clash at Camp Nou and are likely to mix things up a bit to bring in some fresh legs.
As for Levante, they will hoping for some more success on the road. Their counter-attacking style is certainly suited to playing away and they’ve used it effectively already this term to win tough road games at Betis and Real Madrid. It’s likely to be a similar strategy here from them with the visitors sure to defend deep and try to break in numbers when they get a chance.
The hosts are a bit short on numbers right now with a number of players injured or carrying knocks. That includes key man Pablo Sarabia who scored against Barca but may not be risked here. The likes of Maxime Gonalons and Nolito are also out so Pablo Machin is a bit restricted in terms of rotation in some positions. That’s not ideal at this busy time of year but his side will still start as firm favourites to beat Levante.
Sevilla vs Levante Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Betting Tip: Levante +1.0 Asian Handicap at 1.98 with Spin Palace Sports
Sevilla’s home record is very good this season but they’ve not been hammering teams at the RSP. With some notable absentees and fatigue a factor, this could be a closer game than many are expecting. Levante will gladly soak up the pressure but have real pace to break with and they could just take advantage of Sevilla’s fixture pile-up and get another good result on this ground.
