Both Levante and Girona will be delighted with their efforts in 2018. Both sides not only cemented themselves as top flight clubs last term but have continued to flourish this. Paco Lopez has worked miracles at Levante while Eusebio deserves credit for managing to emulate the success of Pablo Machin at the Montilivi despite some significant injury problems.
Levante do though come into this one following back-to-back defeats with their most recent home game seeing them thumped 5-0 by Barcelona. They weren’t as bad as the scoreline suggests but even so, the ease with which they continue to leak goals at home is a worry. The return of Jason and Erick Cabaco from suspensions should aid their cause here. However they will still have to deal with one of the division’s hottest strikers.
Only Leo Messi has scored more league goals this season than Cristhian Stuani. That’s all the more remarkable when you consider Stuani isn’t playing for one of the most creative teams in the league. Furthermore he has actually only started 13 of his team’s 17 games due to a couple of slight knocks. Injuries to other players have held Girona back a bit though and they come into this one having only taken 2 points from their last 4 games.
We shouldn’t see anything radically different here from either side despite recent results not going their way. Levante are likely to play 3-5-2 again with the usual pairing of Jose Luis Morales and Roger Marti up top. Girona are boosted by the return of Marc Muniesa on the left flank and there is the potential for an end-to-end game as it’s one that both coaches will truly believe they can win.
Levante vs Girona Predictions
Score Prediction: 3-2 Girona
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals @ 8/11 with Betway
The result of this one is a tough call but goals do look really likely here. Girona should be bolder than they have been in recent weeks and they have travelled well on the whole this season. Stuani is capable of causing big problems for this Levante defence, which almost seems more comfortable away from home when the midfield drops much deeper offering them greater protection. Both sides have been away specialists this term so it would be no great shock if the visitors edged this.
Levante vs Girona H2H
- Last 6 meetings: 2 Girona Wins, 2 Levante Wins, 2 Draws
- The sides met 4 times last term with Levante winning a Copa del Rey tie but Girona taking 4 points from the league meetings.
- The most recent clash was a 1-1 draw in Catalonia in March.
- All of the last 5 meetings in Valencia have seen both teams score.
