Rayo Vallecano vs Levante predictions, H2H and match preview for this Sunday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the hosts seek a much needed win in their battle to beat the drop.
DATE/TIME – Sunday 23rd December 2018, 18:30 (Spanish Time)
STADIUM – Vallecas
COMPETITION – La Liga
This is another crunch home game for Rayo Vallecano who could dearly do with a bit of festive cheer. They won’t move higher than 19th even if they win this but they will at least close the gap to 17th placed Villarreal to just 2 points with the Yellow Submarine not in action this weekend due to Real Madrid’s involvement in the Club World Cup.
Levante though will be in no mood to do them any favours. The Valencia club are quietly laying the foundations for a very strong season but Paco Lopez won’t be getting ahead of himself and the 5-0 loss to Barcelona last weekend was a bit of a reality check. He will most likely see a win here as another big step towards safety even though they could end up heading into the New Year in a European position. Having lost none of their last five away league games, they certainly have reason to travel to the capital full of belief.
Rayo Vallecano can at least take some comfort from having won their most recent home league game, a 1-0 victory over Eibar. They were pretty competitive at the Bernabeu last weekend too, only losing 1-0 and we do now have some signs that they are starting to get organised defensively, which ought to give them a fighting chance. However with just 10 points on the board to date, they would have a bit of a mountain to climb when La Liga returns in 2019 were they to fail to add to that tally here.
It will be interesting to see what kind of game develops here with Levante tending to play on the break when they go away and on paper it’s a pretty tough one to call.
Rayo Vallecano vs Levante Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw
It’s hard to pick a winner here but there are certainly reasons to expect a few goals. This game after all sees two of La Liga’s three worst defences meet. Levante have let in 9 goals in their last 2 matches alone. However they have the pace to really hurt this Rayo defence and did score 4 themselves in their most recent away match. Another relatively high scoring draw would be no great surprise here.
Rayo Vallecano vs Levante H2H
